New laboratory for Hockerill  Anglo-European College

Required to meet increasing numbers of pupils, especially in Sixth Form. Designed to exceed current facility standards. Use of low maintenance materials and high levels of sound and thermal insulations makes this a very popular laboratory for pupils and staff alike. Use of service pods allows the room layout to be changed at will.

New laboratory for Hockerill  Anglo-European College

The design of this building is unique to the school campus.  The majority of buildings are Grade II listed.  The laboratory is connected to a 1960's extension to a 1930's listed building and opposite another 1960's 3 storey block and an 1890's house.  It was therefore impossible to present a design harmonious to all and better to produce a building with its own strong identity.

New Staircase, Corridors and Classroom Alterations

The school was originally a Teacher Training establishment, built in the late 19th century.  Following conversion to a school it has grown rapidly and problems with access and circulation were becoming serious.  The project involved carrying out a facilities and management audit resulting in designs to restructure access to ground and first floor classrooms improving circulation, access and enlarging classrooms.

New Staircase, Corridors and Classroom Alterations

The principle element of the scheme involved a new stair tower set in a back quadrangle.  This accesses the new projecting corridor and provides a sheltered ground floor circulation route.  The design is again a strong individual design but respects the quality, character and materials of the existing listed buildings.
