This stage is always good fun! Having designed the building, you must now consider the finishing touches; which kitchen or bathroom? which floor finish or wall colours? The more you specify to contractors, the more likely the quotes are to reflect the actual costs. An architect can produce Specifications and Construction
Drawings for the contractors to work to which show much more detail than Building Regulations Drawings, and will include your personal preferences.
PHD Associates understand that you have approached an architect to receive the finished product, not a pile of drawings. Our interior design experience can assist you in detailing the finer points – making the best of your space; a custom-made sliding door; finding the right kitchen or bathroom – or if you’re confident you know what you want, we’ll simply ask you to provide us with the specifications yourself. In most cases, we will produce a Schedule of Works which will help you to receive accurate and comparable tenders.
If you have appointed any third party consultants including kitchen designers and quantity surveyors PHD Associates will liaise directly with these to ensure costs are kept within budget. If you decide not to appoint a quantity surveyor, we will give informal cost guidance, but cannot offer the same level of advice.
